As an educator, I believe that theory, perspective and reflection are of greatest value to young storytellers when they are relatable. I have a special focus in curriculum that interweaves critical thinking and technique and love to blend media of all kinds - from literature to pop culture to modernist theory - in a single workshop.

 

NYU Production Lab, 2018-present

Head of Creative Development at the NYU Production Lab, an experiential-learning bridge for students navigating the transition from an academic classroom to the professional creative industry.

 

ghetto film school, 2017

Produced a film collaboration between GFS’ Fellows program and the Frick Collection, mentoring a student on all aspects of pre-production and set management.

tribeca film institute, Film Fellows, 2013-2015

Coordinated the Tribeca Film Fellows program, a year-round education fellowship for filmmakers ages 16-18 from New York City. I recruited and selected applicants; created a year-long curriculum arc; designed and facilitated lessons and workshops; solicited the participation of filmmakers as speakers and mentors; supported the production of over 20 short film projects per year, culminating in a yearly screening at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Museum of the moving image, 2012 & 2015

As an educator at MOMI, I led guided tours through the museum’s collection, screening discussions on media from charlie chaplin films to historic american presidential campaign videos, and weekend and after-school workshops in animation.

 

Tribeca Film Institute, Youth Screening Series, 2013

Classroom residency at Academy of Urban Planning in Bushwick. I taught a documentary film curriculum, leading screening discussions and creative workshops on food justice in an ELA classroom.

As a paid college intern in the digital media department, I planned and led public guided tours of the museum collection for a wide range of audiences, as well as assisted production in the museum’s audiovisual publications.
